Energy certification of a building is a set of actions and procedures that are carried out for the purpose of issuing an energy certificate.
Energy certificate is a document that presents the energy properties of a building. It contains general information about the building, the building’s energy class, information about the person who issued the energy certificate, information about thermotechnical systems, climate data, information about the energy required for reference and actual climate data, explanations of technical terms and a list of applied regulations and standards.
The energy certificate for existing buildings must also contain a proposal for economically justified measures to improve the building’s energy properties based on a previously conducted energy inspection of the building while for new buildings it contains recommendations for the use of the building in relation to fulfilling the essential requirements of energy saving and thermal protection as well as fulfilling the building’s energy properties.
Energy certification is regulated by the Construction Act and the Regulations on persons authorized for energy certification, energy inspection of buildings and regular inspection of the heating system and cooling or air conditioning system in the building.
